What made you join the alliance?

We joined the alliance in 2022. The VCSE sector makes a strong contribution to health, personal, social and community well-being in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West. I joined the Alliance to have a voice in how that contribution was delivered and developed.

How has being part of the group helped you?

The Alliance has helped with building relationships within the VCSE sector in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire and heightening Thomley’s profile.

Have you met new people/ organisations since joining? If so how has that been helpful?

Yes – I was new in to VCSE sector in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire in 2019. Joining the Alliance has helped me develop a wide network of contacts, more than that I have built useful informal relationships with other organisations, groups and people.

Have you increased your understanding of the NHS and Integrated care since joining?

I do have a better understanding of the NHS landscape. More importantly, I can see the role that the VCSE sector in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire has in the delivery of services and working in co-production to reach a collective outcome.

What has surprised you about being part of the alliance?

Primarily the selflessness of alliance members and their encyclopedic knowledge of the extremely complex sector we work in.

What would you say if you were to recommend it to others?

If you think you can add value to the alliance, then join, this isn’t a talking shop.
