Member Spotlight: Tina Stevenson from Citizens Advice Reading (CAR)

We interviewed BOB VCSE Health Alliance member Tina Stevenson who is the CEO of Citizens Advice Reading (CAR).

Tina is a member of our Health Inequalities Sub Group, also Reading VCS leadership group and other Reading Borough Council groups including the Older Persons Group and the VIN Voluntary Information Network.

Tell us about yourself and your organisation?

I have been at CAR since January 2021 and before then was CEO at Citizens Advice Bracknell for over 5 years. I started in the Hull Citizens Advice Service as an unemployed graduate a loooong time ago and worked my way up to a manager there. Relocation and family gave me work experience in local authorities and education before I joined Bracknell.
I love my job because I love working with amazing people for a service which is incredibly helpful for it’s clients at both an individual and policy level.

What made you join the alliance?

I was interested to understand more about what is going on with the alliance and to see how/what CAR could bring to help. Love a bit of collaboration :0)

How has being part of the group helped you?

It has been great to meet other members of the alliance – a good networking opportunity.

What would you say if you were to recommend it to others?

For me, it represents an opportunity to work more collaboratively and effectively across the patch – absolutely worth being involved on this basis.
